Sitting on the porch in rocking chairs while most are on the distillery tour.

Kinja'd!!!

It is extremely humid out here.

Half of our group got left behind in the road rally due to lights, traffic and a tractor. And then a missed turn. Fortunately I stuck with the lead group. Some spirited driving on fun country roads when we weren’t stuck behind a CUV.

Press F to pay respects to those brakes.

We still had fun though, except for when we got stuck behind a pickup and left for the second time. What’s funny is the truck separated the same group, so we got cut off from yall twice.

Dude the big girl gets up and hustles though. You and Josh were caning it, I was at about 6/10 for the first bit of our windy road until you put me on roads I used to drive everyday. Never got more than 6 degrees over ambient air temp on my new FMIC though :)

I believe you did press F, which may have been what caused your screaming brakes

It was great to meet you! Can’t say I get to have fun on the back roads too often with other hot hatches and sports cars. Definitely considering upping my skill with the car somehow after today’s drive whether it be autox or a performance class, not knowing the road aside. Definitely had room to push the limits more but I wasn’t comfortable enough

Come to the August Oppo meet at Tail of the Dragon and do a dozen runs. But autocross helps a lot, too. It was great to meet you and everyone else.

I didn’t know what happened to the rest since I didn’t have a radio, but I did notice things getting cut off after you.

I broke traction 3-4 times, a rr brake lockup in the first quarter mile, a wheelspin launch trying to catch up with Velocity across the nonstop crossroad, and steering squeal around two corners.

I don’t think I did too bad given my brakes don’t brake and my steering doesn’t steer. That hard chicane over the bridge before the highway nearly ended me.

Still hurts to not keep up with a busted-ass pug, of course.

I’m glad that even without the radio you let me get in front for the really twisty driving. I was a little worried when it took you a while to catch back up. Nice job.

And presumably your comment means that you are back home safe.

Yep, back home, though I think I’m going to have to get a radiator shroud or something. Maybe need to adjust the trans. Only so fast I could go in the hot today before I was getting some transmission heat soak and fluctuating elevated temps. It was fine during the rally...

I figured I should stay back in “f class” with the Peugeot when we rearranged, given that.until I do my front suspension hack the steering wheel is mostly a suggestion.

It’s reasonably quick in a straight, but the tires are also... Hmm... Not performance, shall we say. The rears are like 7-8 years old, even.

I also have fairly shitty brake linings of completely unknown provenance and age.

Keep in mind I was hauling as much ass as possible in the Peugeot trying to keep up with the rest of the group and I got left in the dust too lmao. My tire situation also isn’t the best (possibly 18 year old economy hankooks squealing hard on 35mph corners....lol), and she got a lil toasty during the thrashing. But hey, whatever, she dances around those corners.

Unfortunately I’ll be traveling for work that weekend so I can’t make the dragon. I was considering it but it won’t work this time
